Marine accident round-up : 24th January 2023

Fishing support vessel Alfred Needler (IMO 7907104) suffered structural damages to its starboard potable water tank at the wharf of the Bedford Institute of Oceanography in the Bedford Basin in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Inspections and repairs were planned. The ship remained stationary as of January 22nd, having arrived from St John’s on January 18th.

0982-built, Canada-flagged, 925 gt Alfred Needler is owned and managed by the Canadian Coast Guard of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

General cargo ship Tugberk Imamoglu (IMO 9003548), which was en route from Gemlik to Aliaga, suffered a technical failure during the transit of the Canakkale Strait and moored at Karanlik Liman anchorage, under supervision of a pilot, early local time on January 18th. Repairs were commenced by the crew.

1990-built, Turkiye-flagged, 2,643 gt Tugberk Imamoglu is owned and managed by Zeybe Denizcilik of Istanbul, Turkiye. As of January 22nd it was at the port of Nemrut, where it arrived on January 21st.
