A crew member of general cargo ship Gunerler (IMO 9598684) fell on board and suffered injuries to the head, neck and arm. He also complained of leg pains. At the time the vessel was about 1.5nm southwest of the port of Newhaven, where the ship anchored on August 19th. After an online consultation it was recommended that the seafarer be evacuated immediately to a major trauma centre. A rescue helicopter and then ambulance transferred the victim to Royal Sussex County Hospital.

Tanker Sheng You 229 (IMO 9533218) suffered a fire in its cargo tanks area at Qinzhou anchorage, China, Gulf of Tonkin, during the afternoon of August 22nd local time. The fire spread aft to the superstructure. Qinzhou Maritime Authorities responded, sending SAR and CG vessels. Of the 17 crew on board, 15 were rescued, but two were missing. The fire was extinguished by the evening of August 22nd.
