Two crew members on board Hapag-Lloyd-operated boxship Montpellier (IMO 9314973) have tested positive for Covid-19 in Durban, South Africa. The containership, which was sailing on the company’s Middle East India Africa Express (MIAX) service, has been ordered to remain anchored in Durban for two weeks. “As a safety measure, the local authorities have ordered the vessel must remain at anchorage for 14 days, and has further directed that no cargo operations can be undertaken at this time,” Hapag-Lloyd said. “Berthing at Durban and subsequent ports of the rotation will be adjusted accordingly.”

Cunard’s 2007-built, Bahamas-flagged 90,746 gt Queen Victoria (IMO 9320556) has become the sixth cruise ship at anchor in Weymouth Bay, southern England. Queen Victoria joined fellow fleet member, 2003-built, Bermuda-flagged, 149,215 gt  RMS Queen Mary 2 (IMO 9241061) (both entered with UK Club and Steamship Mutual), along with the P&O Cruises UK liners the 84,342 gt, Bermuda-flagged  Arcadia (IMO 9226906), 76,152 gt, Bermuda-flagged Aurora (IMO 9169524), 115,055 gt Bermuda-flagged Azura (IMO 9424883) and 116,017 gt, Bermuda-flagged Ventura (IMO 9333175) (all Carnival vessels and all entered with UK Club and Steamship Mutual).

Three people have been arrested as part of an investigation into the alleged importation of drugs off the Isle of Wight, the National Crime Agency (NCA) has said. One crew member onboard cruise ship Marella Discovery 2 (IMO 9070620) – which was anchored off the Island – was involved with a police investigation. The cruise ship has been moored off Sandown Bay for the last few weeks. The NCA said that three men were detained by officers on April 25th. The three men will appear at Winchester Crown Court on May 27. 1995-built, Bahamas-flagged, 69,472 gt Marella Discovery 2 is owned by TUI UK Ltd care of Columbia Shipmanagement of Limassol, Cyprus. Cargo ship Atlantic Tulum (IMO 9403035) upon its arrival from New Orleans allided with a pier at Puerto Caldera during the afternoon of May 19th, while proceeding to her berth with tug assistance. The ship’s bow was damaged; the pier suffered damage as well. 2008-built, Singapore-built, 32,379 gt Atlantic Tulum is owned by Atlantic Tulum Pte care of manager Pacific Carriers Ltd of Singapore. It is entered with Standard Club (Standard Asia Division) on behalf of Atlantic Tulum Pte Ltd.
