Marine accident round-up : 20th October 2021

General cargo ship Beaumaiden (IMO 9401257) ran aground some 300 metres off western coast of Bornholm island, Denmark, in the Baltic Sea, during the early morning of October 18th while en route from Antwerp to Estonia, carrying a cargo of fertilizer. No breaches reported and there was no spill. Refloating attempts were under way. As of October 19th the vessel was at anchor off the west coast of Bornholm.

2008-built, Netherlands-flagged, 2,545 gt Beaumaiden is owned and managed by Valparola Beaumaiden BV of Rhoon, Netherlands. ISM manager is Vertom Bereederungs GmbH of Moormerland, Germany/ It is entered with North of England on behalf of Noord Nederlandsche P&I Club.

Fifteen crew members on passenger ship Allure of the Seas (IMO 9383948) tested positive for Covid-19 during week 41 of 2021. The crew members and an undetermined number of close contacts were required to quarantine on the ship. The ship had departed from Port Canaveral on October 4th on a “Western Caribbean Perfect Day“ itinerary. Royal Caribbean requires its crew members on the ship to be fully vaccinated.

Cargo ship Eagle (IMO 9227869) was arrested in Singapore on October 9th. The arresting solicitor was Rajah & Tann Singapore LLP and the vessel was moored at the Eastern Anchorage.

2001-built, Panama-flagged, 11,194 gt Eagle is owned by Zora Shipping SA care of manager Beatrix Enterprises Co of Piraeus, Greece. It is entered with London Club on behalf of Zora Shipping SA.
