Discharging of water affected and damaged cargo from cargo hold No.4 of bulk carrier Joker (IMO 9448578) began on May 11th. After this was completed repair works of the damaged area would begin. Chemical/oil products tanker P Russel (IMO 9223265) was still moored on Chittagong outer anchorage with its cargo of 28,125 tonnes of gas oil, waiting for the cargo discharge vessel. The cargo discharge was expected to begin on or after May 17th.

Two yard workers died and five others were severely injured on May 15th after a major explosion on board a beached vessel at a shipbreaking yard in Chittagong, Bangladesh, reported NGO Shipbreaking Platform. At around 08:30 a fire broke out on board Bunga Kelana 4, which was beached at Mahinur Ship Breaking yard. The flames spread from abandoned waste oil located close to the engine room where workers were torch-cutting steel parts. The Bunga Kelana 4 was beached at Mahinur Ship Breaking six months ago.
Dredger SL-D1 (IMO 8741600) ran aground in the waters off Botolan in Zambales, Philippines, on May 8th. Oil was leaking from the grounded vessel but has been controlled. The Philippine Coast Guard and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources were investigating the oil spill. Local authorities began inspecting the dredger and collecting oil samples. Spilt oil had affected the fishing community of the residents in the town. 1987-built, 1,203 gt SL-D1 is owned and managed by SL Ocean Ltd of Singapore.
Happiness I (IMO 9212905) was anchored at the Jeddah port anchorage and repair works were in progress. Tugs from Jeddah port were standing by the vessel. 2003-built, Iran-flagged, 160,930 gt Happiness 1 is owned by Target Transportation Inc care of manager NITC of Tehran, Iran.
