Passenger/cargo RoRo Petersburg (IMO 8311883) was arrested on June 8th at Paljasaare port, Tallinn, Estonia for debts, including crew wages owed. The ferry had been docked at Paljasaare since April 26th, undergoing repairs. Estonian suppliers sued the owner for outstanding debts totaling €350,000, plus wages owed of €30,000. The court ruled in favour of creditors, and impounded the ship. 1986-built, Russia-flagged, 25,353 gt Petersburg is owned by Black Sea Ferry & Investments of Moscow, Russia. Multi-purpose carrier Kasma (IMO 8721351) ran aground on June 7th at km mark 105 on the Volga-Caspian Sea Canal while she was proceeding towards the Caspian Sea, en route from Astrakhan to Amirabad. Later that day the ship managed to refloat by her own means and anchored near the grounding site. She resumed her voyage early on June 8th. 1985-built, Iran-flagged, 3,086 gt Kasma is owned and managed by Khazar Sea Shipping Lines of Bandar Anzali, Iran. ISM manager is Mazandaran Shipping Co of Mazandaran, Iran.
A large floating steel section believed to belong to a floating dock which broke loose from offshore tug supply ship De Zhou (IMO 9350575) while she was en route from the US to the Canary Islands, is causing problems for ship traffic to Bermuda. The floating sections have not been identified definitively, but they were believed to originate from a floating dock previously owned by the Avondale Shipyard. The yard, located on the Mississippi River, sold the floating dock in autumn 2017 and it was taken in tow by the De Zhou. The convoy was hit by hurricane Irma while en route to the Canary Islands. When the De Zhou reached the Canary Islands, only half of the dock was left. De Zhou moored off Vega de San José at Las Palmas on June 9th. 2007-built, Liberia-flagged, 4,044 gt De Zhou is owned by Hua Ru Shipping Liberia Inc care of manager Shanghai Salvage Co of Shanghai, China. It is entered with UK P&I Club on behalf of Shanghai Salvage Co.
Crews of SAR boat Salvamar Markab of Salvamento Marítimo Ibiza, the L/S “Posidonia”, the Red Cross and the port authority of San Antonio Port were summoned on June 8th after passenger/cargo RoRo Pinar del Rio (IMO 9043952), en route from Dénia (Alicante), to Sant Antoni de Portmany (Ibiza) ran aground on the rocks of the breakwater off Sant Antoni, only 10 metres away from its berth. The 175 passengers were only served with coffee and water after a two-hour delay. They protested and then the captain announced they would get meals, and they were allowed to fetch belongings from their cars. The travellers disembarked three hours later, but the 64 vehicles had to be left behind. The ship was refloated by companies hired by the shipowner Baléria on June 9th and berthed at Moll Moll Nou that afternoon. 1992-built, Spain-flagged, 3,454 gt Pinar Del Rio is owned by Balearia Eurolineas Maritimas of Denia, Alicante, Spain. It is managed by Balearia Caribbean Ltd of the same address. It is entered with Steamship Mutual (Smuab) (European syndicate) on behalf of Balearia Eurolineas Maritimas SA.
