Marine accident round-up : 11th May 2022

Bulk carrier Strategic Harmony (IMO 9689897) allided with the dock at section 42 of the Port of Montreal, Quebec, on April 29th during a berthing manoeuvre. The vessel and the dock suffered minor damage. The ship remained stationary as of May 9th.

2014-built, Singapore-flagged, 24,658 gt Strategic Harmony is owned by SBC Harmony Pte Ltd care of MTM Ship Management Pte Ltd of Singapore. It is entered with North of England on behalf of SBC Harmony Pte Ltd.

General cargo ship Harvest Spirit (IMO 9655951) allided with the lower approach wall and the lock gate of the Welland Canal’s lock No 1 in Port Weller, Ontario, Canada, on April 21st. Minor damage was caused to the lock gate, but the ship suffered no damage and continued its voyage from Port Colborne to Nanticoke, where it berthed on April 22nd. As of May 9th the vessel was at Nanticoke, having arrived from Port Colborne on May 8th.

2012-built, Canada-flagged, 11,953 gt Harvest Spirit is owned by McKeil Work Boats GP Inc of Burlington, Ontario, Canada. It is managed by McKeil Marine Ltd of the same address. It is entered with Shipowners Club on behalf of McKeil Work Boats GP Inc.

Bulk carrier Yulia (IMO 9459967) suffered a mechanical failure on May 5th when south of Thasos island, Greece, in the northern Aegean Sea, while ballasting from Diliskelesi in the Marmara Sea, Turkey, to Nea Karvali, Greece. The Greek Coast Guard said that the ship was taken on tow to Nea Karvali (Kavala) anchorage, and anchored there early on May 6th. As of the morning of May 9th it remained there.

Passenger/vehicle RoRo Sea Anatolia (IMO 9007283) ex-European Seaway, has been moved to Tuzla anchorage after the completion of permanent repairs. Sea trials will be carried out under the supervision of the class surveyor and shipyard engineers. The vessel remained stationary at Tuzla anchorage as of May 9th.
