Marine accident round-up : 10th October 2022

General cargo ship, MSR No.1 (IMO 9141742) was reported to have suffered a loss of deck cargo overboard on September 14th during Typhoon Muifa, when the vessel was off Jeju Island, South Korea. The vessel later arrived at Port Klang anchorage on September 27th. It was initially reported that around 72 containers might have been lost overboard, while other containers stowed on deck could have sustained damage as a consequence of the movement of containers stowed on deck. Other cargo stowed below deck could also have sustained wet damage as a result of the entry of sea water to the cargo holds as a consequence of damage to the vessel’s hatch covers. AIS from October 7th has the vessel in the Malacca Strait, moored at Port Klang.

1998-built, Panama-flagged, 6,310 gt MSR No. 1 is owned and managed by Maritime Silk Route International Shipping of Majouro, Marshall Islands. It is entered with West of England (Claims Team Hong Kong) on behalf of Maritime Silk Route International Shipping Co Ltd.

Small boxship Iseaco Fortune (IMO 9138159) was detained by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) on October 5th when it was about 14.5nm southwest of Sekinchan in Selangor. The MMEA reportedly detained the vessel for allegedly anchoring without permission, as the captain had failed to present the proper documents. Two crew members were taken to the Selangor Maritime State Headquarters for further investigation. No AIS since September 30th.

1997-built, Panama-flagged, 15,075 gt Iseaco Fortune is owned by Iseaco Fortune Ltd care of Iseaco Ship(Asia Team) on behalf of Iseaco Fortune Ltd. management Pte Ltd of Singapore. It is entered with Swedish Club (Asia team) on behalf of Iseaco Fortune Ltd.

Cargo ship Jin Hai Zheng (IMO 9590993) was arrested on October 2nd on the orders of the local High Court, at berth J/8 of Chittagong Port, Bangladesh. The vessel had arrived from Shanghai on September 6th and berthed on September 20th to offload its cargo. The ship was transferred to the outer anchorage after discharging on October 4th and moored, waiting for the owner’s instructions and resolution of the case. As of October 9th the vessel remained moored at Chittagong, Bangladesh.

2011-built, China-flagged, 29255 gt Jin Hai Zheng is owned and managed by Fujian Shipping Co of Fuzhou, Fujian, China. ISM manager is Fusco Zhonping Ship Mgmt Co of Fuzhou, Fujian, China.
