Bulk carrier Rainbow Harmony (IMO 9558737) suffered engine failure on June 16th in the South Atlantic while en route from Panjang to Amsterdam . A tug was sent to assist and on June 23rd the bulk carrier was taken in tow towards Walvis Bay. 2009built, 22,456 gt Rainbow Harmony is owned by Panama-based Fanari Maritime and managed by Ritelane Marine of Athens, Greece. It is entered with Swedish Club on behalf of Fanari Maritime. Bulk carrier Ocean Phoenix (IMO 9175638) started to drift on Chittagong’s outer anchorage on June 24th after her anchor dragged. It could not heave up anchor because the rudder or propeller became entangled in the anchor chain. The bulk carrier then allided with the stern of the anchored Green Phoenix (IMO 9547001). Both vessels were loaded with clinker. Ocean Phoenix suffered a breach of the hull on the starboard side in cargo hold no.4 and subsequent water ingress. The hold flooded and the vessel’s aft came to rest on the bottom. Salvors are sealing the leak so they can dewater the flooded hold.
