The Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen said on Wednesday that it had thwarted an attack over the weekend by Houthi fighters on a Saudi oil tanker near the Red Sea port of Hodeidah. Coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Maliki said that they had destroyed a boat carrying explosives as it headed towards the tanker on Saturday

Five people were injured in a routine training exercise involving a lifeboat on Carnival Cruises’ vessel Arcadia on January 5. The ship’s lifeboat reportedly broke from the cabling and fell from its davits into the sea while the cruise ship was in Ponta Delgada, Azores.

Two people were injured in a fire that erupted on Shell Enchilada oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico, Wednesday, November 8th, the US Coast Guard (USCG) has confirmed. A 54-year-old male suffered from flash burns and a concussion, and a 29-year-old male suffered from a sprained wrist and a concussion. Shell launched an emergency helicopter and medevaced both people and transferred them to the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston.

A dredging vessel that suffered an explosion 2nm South of Dodman Point, Cornwall on October 4th has been towed into harbour, the UK Coast Guard has said. Two people were injured in the incident.

General cargo ship MSM Dolores (IMO 9519030) ran into the embankment of the Kiel Canal at the 88.5km mark on December 23rd, 2017, around 8 p.m. g, turning around in the fairway and getting stuck with the stern on the other side. A person was lost overboard passenger/cargo RoRo Amorella (IMO 8601915) shortly after midnight on January 5th, in Swedish waters. Rescue services and other ships participated in the search, but the person was not found. The ship did not call at Långnäs because of the incident and arrived at Turku about an hour late at 08:40. 1988-built, Finland-flagged, 34,384 gt Amorella is owned and managed by Viking Line ABP of Aland, Finland. Mexican law enforcement agencies were tipped off on a possible cocaine shipment on board container ship Cap Palliser (IMO 9344679) which was to dock at Lazaro Cardenas port. Upon arrival the vessel was searched, and six cases were found attached to underwater hull, containing in total 285 kilos of cocaine. An official announcement was made on January 3rd, four days after the ship had arrived at Lazaro Cardenas, leaving the same day for Los Angeles, where she docked at the SSA Container Terminal on January 3rd. The cocaine was to be delivered to Long Beach. Oil products tanker Au Virgo (IMO 9181871) caused problems on the Yangon River in Myanmar on January 2nd. The tanker allided with the NGJ wharf and boats near the Strand Road market during the. The palm-oil carrier was unable to control its steering as it chose the wrong path. The vessel then drifted downstream with force forcing boats near the area to take evasive action. 1998-built, Indonesia-flagged, 3,483 gt Au Virgo is owned by Pandupasifik Karismaraya PT of Medan, Indonesia, and managed Maximus Marine Pte Ltd of Singapore.
