Buenos Aires province issued a mandatory conciliation notice late on Tuesday October 18th to grain inspectors’ union URGARA and food exporting company Desdelsur SA, which have been in dispute for some time.
Thee union said that it would comply with the conciliation but would continue to be on (strike) alert and mobilize until the situation of the workers in the dispute is resolved.
The union had raised the possibility of an abrupt walkout at the country’s ports. This led the local government to issue a five-day extension of the previous compulsory conciliation.
URGARA is an association of grain technicians who analyze the grains held in storehouses and loaded onto ships.
