London Club has announced the death of Edward Waite, who came to the London P&I Club in 2017 as a UK solicitor, after gaining experience of different sectors of the shipping industry in the UK and Japan, including brokerage and journalism.
In a warm tribute the Club said that “by nature, Edward displayed a gentle good humour coupled with tremendous charm and warmth. Professionally, Edward brought a steely determination to get the job done to a high standard. Edward battled a genetic heart problem without complaint. He was more concerned for the consequence his condition could have on colleagues and clients than the profound impact on himself and his family. Thinking of others was Edward’s defining character. Whether mentoring colleagues or supporting worthy causes where he could make a difference, Edward gave his time and experience generously, patiently and without seeking recognition. These are all rare values that we will greatly miss.”
The Club said that its thoughts were with his family, particularly his wife and daughter.
