Livestock carrier in collision with bulk carrier in the Bosphorus

Bulk carrier Bunun Ace (IMO 9625870) and livestock carrier Ayed 1 (IMO 9281138) collided in the Bosphorus Strait on October 3rd, it has just been reported.

The Turkish Directorate General of Coastal Safety said the Bunun Ace was heading towards the Üsküdar coast. Only swift action by tug Kurtarma-5 stopped the vessel running aground.

The Ayed 1 appeared to suffer minimal delay to its voyage. It was not been confirmed whether or not the vessel was laden, but the vessel had departed Batumi, Georgia and was heading for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, so it would be likely that there was livestock on board at the time of the accident.

2013-bult, Panama-flagged, 23,274 gt Bunun Ace is owned by Bunun Marine SA care of manager Wisdom Marine Lines SA of Taipei, Taiwan, China. It is entered with Swedish Club (Asia Team) on behalf of Bunun Marine SA. As of October 15th it was at anchor in the Marmara Sea, south of Istanbul.

2002-built, Togo-flagged, 1997 gt Ayed 1 is owned by Alodayni Shipping Co SA care of Adriatic For management of Alexandria, Egypt. As of October 15th it was in the Red Sea, en route from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to Port Said, Egypt.
