Jo Johnson has replaced John Hayes as UK minister of state for transport. Johnson will also be Minister for London in his new post. Hayes, who proclaimed himself “the personification of blue-collar Conservatism”, had been transport minister since July 2016 and also during 2014-15. Johnson is the brother of UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and was educated at Eton and Balliol, where he read Modern History. He remains a friend of fellow Bullingdon Club member George Osborne, the former Chancellor of the Exchequer.
