Nearly a third of oil production and a quarter of natural gas production in the US Gulf of Mexico remained shut-midweek as a result of Hurricane Laura, the US Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) said this week.
Based on current data from offshore operator reports, personnel remain evacuated from a total of 71 of the 643 manned platforms in the Gulf.
All dynamically positioned rigs had returned to their working locations. Personnel still remained evacuated from one of the 12 non-dynamically positioned rigs operating in the Gulf.
BSEE estimated from operator reports that 28.38% of the current oil production in the Gulf of Mexico remained shut in, while 24.96% of the natural gas production was also shut in.
