General cargo ship capsizes in Andaman sea

General cargo ship M Star 1, which was en route from Port Klang, Malaysia to Chittagong, Bangladesh, has capsized and sunk in the Andaman Sea, 25nm southwest of the Great Western Torres Islands, Myanmar. After water ingress caused a list to starboard the captain ordered evacuation of all the crew to the lifeboat and life rafts. M Star 1 then capsized. Offshore supply tug Lewek was closest to the scene. It found all 14 crew members, who were transported and disembarked at Ranong, Thailand. There is no report of water pollution or oil leakage.

M Star 1 was owned and operated by South Korean company M Star Shipping.
