Gard sponsors Maritime London Officer Cadet

At a dinner at Trinity House, London, on July 3rd to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Maritime London Officer Cadet Scholarship. one of the first two Lloyds Cadets to join the scheme in 1992, Tim Howse, Vice President, Industry Liaison in Gard, announced the intention of Gard (UK) Ltd. to sponsor a MLOCS cadet throughout a three-year training period.

He said that Gard’s sponsorship would give a cadet the chance to have a really great career at sea, or ashore, in due course, and the sponsorship directly contributes to the continued prosperity and quality of seafaring standards.

In 1992 a small group of Lloyd’s underwriters established the Lloyd’s of London Officer Cadet Scholarship as a charity to support training of seafaring officers and improved standards. The scheme was renamed the Maritime London Officer Cadet Scholarship (MLOCS) in 2002, to reflect sponsorship and donations made by the wider maritime services industry in the City of London.
