The pace of cargo delivery from the Port of Chittagong port has been reduced for the past six days since the damage to two gantry cranes in a jetty has reduced container-handling capabilities. More than 20 container vessels were reported to be waiting at outer anchorage on Friday. A three-member investigatory committee has been formed to establish the cause of the accident and the extent of damage to the gantry cranes. Since the accident, the operational activities in the jetty have remained suspended. 1998-built, 22.039 gt, Egypt-flagged X-Press Suez is owned and managed by X-Press Feeders Egypt For SHPG of Alexandria, Egypt.
