Galaxy Leader crew are safe, says Bulgarian Minister

In the first update for several weeks on the condition of the crew of car carrier Galaxy Leader (IMO 9237307), hijacked by the Houthis last November, the Bulgarian Transport Minister said on TV that the crew were all safe and that they were now being put up in a hotel.

He remained hopeful that the crew will be returned “safe and sound,” he said, and will shortly return home.

The car carrier was boarded by helicopter troops on November 19th 2023 and taken to Hodeidah Port, where it became something of a tourist attraction (IMN November 22nd 2023)

Japanese shipping company NYK, the charterer of the vessel, said that at the time of the seizure the ship was not carrying any cargo, and that it was working on the safe return of all 25 crew members on board.
