Former passenger on MSC Opera tests positive, passengers kept on board

A former passenger on cruise ship MSC Opera (IMO 9250464) has tested positive for Covid-19. All current passengers were being kept on board temporarily. The ship docked in Piraeus and left during the afternoon of March 4th with a clean bill of health, according to Greek officials. All people on board would undergo health screening on arrival at Corfu, scheduled for mid-morning March 5th.

The former passenger was reported to be an Austrian national who, after disembarking from MSC Opera, travelled through Italy home to Austria.

2004-built, Panama-flagged, 65,591 gt MSC Opera is owned by Newco Opera SA care of manager MSC Mediterranean Shipping Co SA of Geneva, Switzerland. ISM manager is MSC Cruise Management UK Ltd of Uxbridge, UK. It is entered with West of England (Eastern Claims Team) on behalf of MSC Cruise Management (UK) Ltd. For H&M it is entered with SIAT-Soc.Italiana Ass e Rieass SpA, with Gard holding a subscription position.
