Container ship MSC Katrina (IMO 9467445) reported to be on fire on September 9th when south-west of Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The ship was listed as not under command and adrift since the morning of September 9th.
On September 10th it was reported that the vessel was being towed by SAR tug SA Amandla, with the caravan moving towards Durban South Africa, with an ETA of September 16th.
Current reports are that the MSC Katrina probably suffered a fire which knocked out its controls.
2012-built, Panama-flagged, 140,096 gt MSC Katrina is owned by Potty Holdings care of MSC Mediterranean Shipping Co of Geneva, Switzerland. ISM manager is MSC Srl of Naples, Italy. It is entered with West of England (European Claims) on behalf of Potty Holdings SA.
As of September 11th the vessel was reported as not under command, heading for Durban.
