American Club has issued a member alert on the importance of eye protection to accompany its new loss-prevention poster “Keep Your Eyes Focused On Safety!” The Club noted that eye injuries were among the most common injuries affecting seafarers and that the more serious incidents could have devastating consequences. “Eye protection is an essential aspect of seafarer health and safety and one of the most important elements in any vessel safety management programme. In order to prevent eye injuries, it is imperative to ensure that the appropriate safety eyewear is worn wherever a risk of an eye injury exists”, the Club said.
