Eurocargo Trieste seized in Livorno

Cargo ship Eurocargo Trieste (IMO 9131515) was seized in Livorno on November 23rd following an inspection by technicians of the Harbour Office. They had boarded the ferry to investigate the possible causes of the fire that developed in the engine room.

Irregularities were detected in the fixed on-board fire-fighting system and in the ship’s safety equipment. These will need to be restored before the vessel will be allowed back into operation. Checks were also being carried out on the ship by the inspectors of the shipping company and representatives of the flag State Malta.
