Disney cruise ship member charged with embezzling $275,000 over three years

Brazilian national Renan Dias Da Rocha Gomes, a crewmember of cruise ship Disney Wonder (IMO 9126819) has been charged with one count of wire fraud after he admitted embezzling $275,000 via the ship’s VeriFone point of sale system.

Between 2015 and 2017 Gomes transferred funds onto Disney cards, prosecutors said. FBI agents met the cruise ship at San Diego pier on October 27th. Gomes reportedly said that he had started with small amounts, but worked up to the maximum of $1,000 per transaction.
