Containership suffers damages when hitting lock wall in Brunsbüttel

Containership Containerships Arctic (IMO 9818400) collided with the Big South Lock in Brunsbüttel, Germany during the evening of November 23rd, the local police department in Itzehoe, Schleswig-Holstein, has said.

Both the vessel and the lock structure were reported to have sustained considerable damage. An investigation into the allision has been launched. The police were reported to have said that they suspected a steering error, but nothing has been formally confirmed.

No injuries or oil leaks were reported.

The 1,380 teu boxship was delivered to Containerships in December 2019. It  was the company’s fourth LNG-powered ship.

2019-built, Cyprus-flagged, 17,982 gt Containerships Arctic is owned by Fortune BEC IV Shipping Ltd care of manager CMA CGM of Marseille, France. It is entered with North of England on behalf of CMA CGM SA.
