Container ship reported boarded by pirates in Gulf of Guinea

Container ship Contship New (IMO 9373905) was attacked and, according to Dryad, boarded, in the Gulf of Guinea at 09:00 UTC on April 23rd.

The vessel was 130nm north-west of Sao Tome, Sao Tome and Principe. The ship was en route from Port Owendo, Gabon to Lome, Togo.

Ship’s latest available AIS, dated 07:00 UTC April 22nd, saw it as being under way shortly after leaving Owendo. On April 15th the vessel was off Libreville, Gabon.

2007-built, Cyprus-flagged, 9.957 gt Contship New is owned by Frankyl Maritime Co care of Contships Management Inc of Athens, Greece. It is entered with Skuld (Business unit Skuld Piraeus) on behalf of Contships Management Inc.
