Cargo flow beginning to normalize, confirms CMA CGM

French shipping line  CMA CGM has confirmed earlier reports that cargo flow at the major coastal ports in China was beginning to normalize, with business operations entering the recovery phase,

In an advisory on coronavirus impact, CMA CGM said that manufacturing activities in mainland China were gradually recovering, with more port workers and truck drivers returning to work.

“The CMA CGM Group strives to better support our customers as their business activities recover without compromising the health and well-being of our staff and partners in China. Starting from March 2nd, 2020, alternate teams of employees will be deployed at our offices at different work schedules. Employees working from home during designated hours will continue to provide services on a remote basis”, the company said.

All Chinese ports apart from Wuhan remained open during the outbreak, but they were badly affected by supply chain bottlenecks and a shortage of workers.
