Canadians advised to avoid all cruise travel

Canadians should avoid all cruise ship travel during the current coronavirus outbreak, chief medical officer Theresa Tam advised on Monday March 9th.

“Cruise ships have passengers from around the world who may be arriving from areas of known or unknown spread of the novel coronavirus,” she said, adding that “the virus can spread quickly on board cruise ships, due to the close contact between passengers”.

Tam’s statement was an escalation on her views on Friday, when she said that Canadians should “think twice” before taking a cruise.
