Bureau Veritas hit by cyber attack

French class society Bureau Veritas (BV) has reported a cyber-attack on November 20th that forced the company to temporarily take its servers and data offline. It said this week that a preventive move was made in order to protect the clients and the company while further investigations and that corrective measures were in progress. Bureau Veritas said that as a result, partial unavailability or slowdown of its services and client interfaces can be expected.

“All the group’s cybersecurity procedures were immediately activated. A preventive decision has been made to temporarily take our servers and data offline to protect our clients and the company while further investigations and corrective measures are in progress. This decision generates a partial unavailability or slowdown of our services and client interfaces”, the class society said.

It said on Monday that Bureau Veritas teams, supported by leading third-party IT experts, were “deploying all efforts to ensure business continuity and minimize disruption to its clients, employees and partners. Our incident response procedure has been triggered.”
