Independent Lloyd’s broker AFL Insurance Brokers Ltd (AFL) is to the launch a commercial Marine division. Alex Mott has been named Director of Marine.
Mott, who has 16 years international experience, previously managed the Ed / CGNB Marine broking team as Head Broker.
AFL Chairman Toby Esser said that “the launch of a commercial Marine division is a logical step for AFL as we continue to grow the business into a full service intermediary. We are responding to increased demand from clients for a modern, proactive approach to processing and placing Marine business, and are delighted that a skilled insurance professional of Alex’s calibre is coming on board.”
AFL chief executive Bob Finch said that Mott was “the perfect fit to drive our Marine division forward”. But Finch warned that, although marine insurance was at the historic heart of the London Market, London’s long-standing roots as a Marine hub could not be taken for granted. He said that AFL was “committed to developing and adopting the latest technology and modernisation initiatives to deliver efficiencies in processing and placing marine business, and maintain London’s position as a global leader in marine insurance.”
