Accident round-up : 24th January 2017

In its maiden voyage under a new name, general cargo vessel Levant Horizon ran aground at about 14.00 local time on January 22nd on the River Tagus while leaving Lisbon, apparently as a result of navigational error. No pollution or injuries were reported.

The vessel was stuck on the mud shallow near Oieras municipality. Two tugs towed the vessel to a safe depth about five hours later. The ship was ordered to return Lisbon for special survey and safety inspection. Levant Horizon is 6,917dwt and 5,712grt. No detail of vessel in P&I databases.
