Accident round-up: 18th October 2016

Fire erupted on stationary concrete oil platform Statfjord A on Statfjord oil field in the North Sea at around 08.20 local time on October 16th. The firefighting system was activated and 20 people out of 67 platform personnel were evacuated to platform Statfjord B. Statoil said that the fire was under control. The Statfjord oil field covers 580 sq km on the UK-Norwegian boundary of the North Sea at a water depth of 145 metres. The Statfjord field has three condeep concrete production platforms, A, B and C.
