The fire on board bulk carrier Solong (IMO 9322554) was reported as extinguished on March 18th, eight days after its collision with fuel carrier Stena Immaculate in the North Sea a short distance off the Humber Estuary. The UK Coastguard had been talking about small pockets of fire since March 12th. Both vessels remained in the area, with the Stena Immaculate at anchor 12 miles off Withernsea, and the Solong about 20 miles further south, off Mablethorpe.

Traffic was suspended in Turkiye’s Bosphorus strait on Wednesday after general cargo ship Bers (IMO 9044188) had an engine failure during a northbound transit through the strait, reports shipping agent Tribeca. The Bers suffered an engine failure around Kuzguncuk area and that an assistance vessel was sent to the scene, the reports stated.
1992-built, Vanuatu-flagged, 2,479 gt Bers is owned and managed by Enkaship Ltd of Majuro, Marshall Islands. ISM manager is Star Ship Denizcilik of Istanbul, Türkiye.
Iraqi naval forces seized an unidentified ship in Iraqi territorial waters in the Gulf on suspicion of fuel smuggling. Iraq’s naval force has said. It is relatively rare for Iraqi authorities to seize ships (Iranian seizures are more common). A naval patrol boat intercepted the ship on Tuesday after receiving intelligence about suspected illegal activity, according to the navy statement issued late on Tuesday. The navy said an Iranian captain, eight Indian nationals, and two Iraqi crew members were onboard the ship. The navy released a picture of the ship, in which no name was visible. It gave no further details about the vessel.
