Shipowners’ Club has announced that Marcus Tarrant will take on the role of CEO of the Club on June 4th 2026 when the current CEO, Simon Peacock, will be retiring from the Club.
Tarrant has worked at the Club since 2014 and is currently the Club’s Chief Financial Officer. His appointment as CEO is subject to regulatory approval.
Club Chair Donald A MacLeod said that “Simon has done exactly what the Club’s Board asked of him since we announced him taking on the CEO role in 2022. He has overseen continued measured growth in the Club and has led the delivery of ever-improving service to our Members, wherever they are in the world. He leaves the CEO role at a time when the Club is in a position of enviable strength in all facets of the Club’s strategy. On behalf of the Club and the Board I thank Simon for his commitment over the past 10 years and wish him every success in the future as he moves to spend time with his family and on his non-executive career”.
Macleod said that the smooth transition had been in the making since Tarrant became CFO in May 2023.
“To be able to make an internal appointment has considerable benefits, not least the continuation of the culture of the Club, with its Members and their brokers front and centre of everything we do”, Macleod said.
Simon Peacock said that “it has been a genuine pleasure to serve the Shipowners’ Club over the past 10 years. Marcus will be a superb CEO. His success in this role will undoubtedly be enhanced by the commitment, enthusiasm and expertise of all his colleagues, which is something that I have been enormously grateful for. Equally, the support of such an engaged and expert Board will also help the Club continue to flourish. I wish Marcus good luck and enjoyment.”
The Club said that it was in the process of identifying a replacement for Marcus in the CFO role, ensuring continued strength and leadership within the Executive team.
