Cruise ship World Voyager (IMO 9871529) reportedly broke loose from its berth in the port of Ushuaia, in the far south of Argentina, on January 5th as it faced winds of about 30 knots, gusting to 40 knots. It went adrift, with the gangway still hanging from its starboard side. The ship first struck the port structure and then was pushed with its starboard side bow against the port side stern of the cruise ship Viking Octantis (IMO 9863194), which was moored nearby. The impact was well above the waterline, so no water ingress occurred. The Viking Octantis suffered minor damage to one of its rear railings. The bow of the World Voyager suffered a crack, but no structural damage was reported. There were no injuries. The Argentine Naval Prefecture indicated that the incident was caused by a rope breaking at the stern of the World Voyager. The Prefecture said that this was not a port mooring line, but a line belonging to the vessel. However an official report was expected to determine precisely how the incident occurred.

The repair of the Stadsbrug in Weert, south-eastern Netherlands, which was damaged by inland motor freighter Zuidenwind (MMSI 244730834) ) in November (IMN November 10th November 27th, December 2nd 2025) began on January 5th. The delay was the result of the repair requiring bespoke components in the damaged hoisting system that had to be manufactured to order. The repair work will be carried out in two parts, and the bridge will remain closed to shipping until January 23rd, although road traffic and pedestrians can still cross the Zuid-Willemsvaart Canal. For the last week of January the bridge will be closed to road traffic, with only cyclists and pedestrians permitted to cross the bridge, outside office hours. If all goes well the repairs will be completed on January 30th and the bridge will be reopened to shipping and road traffic, after a rather expensive allision.
