The French Navy has said that authorities were investigating a suspected infraction by the crude oil tanker Boracay (IMO 9332810), a vessel which is listed under EU and UK sanctions against Russia.
The Boracay / Pushpa was one of three vessels cited as a suspect as a possible base launch ship for a drone attack on Copenhagen Airport, Denmark, on September 22nd (IMN September 25th).
The French Navy said that “following a suspected offence by the vessel Boracay, a report was made to the relevant public prosecutor’s office in Brest. An investigation is underway”.
2007-built, false-flagged (Malawi) according to Equasis, Benin-flagged (according to Marine Traffic) 59,164 gt Pushpa / Boracay is owned and managed by Baaj Shipping Ltd of Mahe Island, Seychelles. As of September 30th it was located in the Bay of Biscay, at anchor off western France’s Atlantic coast, close to Saint Nazaire. It is meant to be en route from Primorsk, Russia (departed September 20th) to Vadinar, India (ETA October 20th).
