Australia-based global business insurer QBE has hired marine insurance expert Paul Peerdeman to launch marine products in the Netherlands. QBE noted that Peerdeman had more than 35 years of insurance experience, including the establishment of start-up marine practices. His most recent position was as head of marine at ERGO Netherlands.
Peerdeman started his career as a broker for Aon, then became an underwriter at HDI Gerling and a manager at Chubb. Back at Aon as a director, he moved to Allianz for further leadership roles.
He has taken up the role of head of marine underwriting at QBE Netherlands, effective August 1st. He will be based in Amsterdam, where he will manage the rolling-out of the Marine Cargo and Fine Art & Specie products, These have been live in France since October 2022, in the Nordics since April 2023 and in Germany since November 2023.
Peerdeman will report to Tania Bensoussan-Arthur, QBE marine practice lead – Europe.
