More than two years after Kea Trader was wrecked on the Durand Reef off Maré a meeting has been held at the High Commission, bringing together the main stakeholders, institutional representatives, elected islanders, customary and associations involved in the management of the Coral Sea Park.
However, the November 4th meeting did not obtain definite information on how things would proceed. Leaving the wreckage where it was remained as a possibility.
The meeting was told that no new pollution had been found in the past year and a quarter. In total, almost 19 tonnes of ship waste have been collected in 16 municipalities since the grounding of the vessel Kea Trader.
