Huge offshore wind island planned by Denmark

Denmark is proceeding with plans to build an artificial island that will generate power from offshore wind farms of up to 10 gigawatts (GW) of capacity, more than enough to supply all the homes in Denmark, as part of its efforts to meet climate change targets. Denmark recently approved a law which targets reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 70% by 2030.

The plans could cost as much as DKr200bn to DKr300bn ($30bn to $44.5bn), the vast majority of which would be financed by private investors, Denmark said .
