Hodeidah Port to be kept open, says Saudi-led coalition

The Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen will keep Yemen’s main Hodeidah port open for a month, it said on December 20th. There had been fears that a thwarted ballistic missile attack by Houthi rebels towards Saudi capital Riyadh would lead to the port being closed, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Yemen. Last month the coalition blocked all entry points to Yemen after a similar attempted attack.

The coalition said that ships bringing in fuel and food supplies would be allowed to enter for another month while proposals made by the UN envoy to Yemen were implemented.
