China alters system of summer fishing ban

Steamship Mutual has been told by Club Correspondents Huatai that the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture has adjusted the system of the summer fishing ban.

Scheduled to start on May 1st the ban is expected to last about three to four months. Steamship said that before and after the ban fishing areas were likelier to be busier than usual.

Huatai said that to avoid being involved in unnecessary incidents, vessels should maintain a proper lookout and keep in close contact with the VTS centre, as well as the pilot station.
